Notes on the new Web Site:-
The Competition Results The first page of the competition results is a page for photographs, the present images of presentation could be replaced by the best images from the previous club competitions. How we go about providing the images will require help from the members.
The main change is the addition of Members Pages. There is a full page which can be dedicated to any member if they want one to display their pictures. Each can have up to 10 images posted to the web. I am using a low resolution JEPG format which will display well but be rather too small to copy by downloading.
For details on image Sizes for you personal gallery go to the handouts menu and look at the third item. Supply either a High Res JEPG file for someone to resize for you or set the pixels to 720 px x 540 px and the JEPG setting on saving to “4”. For images not of the 4:3 ratio follow my handout, setting 720 in place of 1024 and 530 in place of 768.
The web site is now ready for your images!!!!
The Slide and Print Gallery The new rollover style provides the ability to view large. This will be used to show off the best images from the previous season to the public. It can also showcase our very best work on a separate page.
We need to make decisions about how we are going to do this.
The updates I have finished the upgrade of the web site apart from a few minor changes which are background issues. This is the way it will look and work.!
The News Page is an item I hope we can use more. I suggest we can email the Club Web Updater (Tony Burgess) with news which he can add when he is able. Using this news page more will make this web site a better facility for all us members. tony.burgess@sky.com
Personal Email is an option I am thinking about (for later in 2012). I think I can provide pages which can only be accessed by a password. This could contain contact details for members (only if they wish) and other information which would not be available to the general public.
On another aspect, which is not totally web site, is to give all members the option to receive emails from the club about interesting things or a general “go to web site” to look at the news page.
Club Handouts, Club Handouts now available on this web site. You can now download the information or copy and paste into your own word processor. Printed copies can still be made available to people who do not have web access (but please ask).
YOUR COMMENTS PLEASE!
Also Tony Burgess will be using the latest version of the web software (a legal club purchased version!).
This will allow us to continue the web site update and allow Tony to continue to update competition results add to add news items.
Tony and myself (Ron M) will swap flash drives each week during the upgrade so that each of us has the latest updates.
So send news to Tony and points regarding the design to me.
